I like the 2009 shadow draft better than the actual one if thats possible. I was literally screaming for them to take gould in the second, not that I dont like mendonca though.
ReplyDeleteYeah I had Gould rated even hight than most, top 20, so skipping him was a bit of a surprise to say the least. The thing that has me most excited about Mendonca given that he's our property now, no matter who we would've picked, is a report that I read that he mad the adjustment this year to shorten his stroke to make more contact. If he can continue with this improved approach, his 3B defense means that he should be a legit corner infield prospect. Based on this positive assessment of him, I have him tentatively ranked about 15 in our system.

I should add, that, putting a draft together is difficult. I basically picked based on my own reordering of the BA top 200. When I was done however, i realized that I didn't pick enough college guys. I'm on board with an approach which aims toward a nice balance of HS and College guys. I would have to go back and do another GD to attain that balance though...
