I just wanted to note that in the 5th round TX chose HS RHP McBride instead of HS RHP Zach Rosenberg, perhaps due to signability, who went later in the 5th.
Ruben Sierra JR was good value pick in the 6th round, an OF project with high upside, who will start out in CF and possibly move to RF when he fills out. Sound familar? He has 4-5ish tool potentential but will take time.
In the 7th round TX decided it was not the time to attempt to take some HS pitches who were tough signs, Colvin and Younginer. Instead it took GA HS CF Braxton Lane,5.10 190lbs. Both Colvin and Younginer were taken later on in the round.
In the eighth round, TX pulled the trigger on JC RHP Tullis, 6.2/200 from Idaho (stomping grounds for the scout who found Kinsler?). They elected to take him over college pitchers Buch and Berry who went later in the round.
In the 9th, TX pulled the trigger on a real interesting 20yo JC RF prospect, Blash. He is real raw for his age but lacks experience having grown up in the Virgin Islands. He is a big strong kid, with 4-5ish tool potential at 6.5/218 and a boom or bust prospect who we will have to wait a couple of years on I would imagine. TX elected to take this kid instead of college pitchers Dyson oor Volz.
Profiles to follow....
