2009 PROFILE: His injuries to both wrists have probably spelled the end for him as a catcher and really ruined any trade value he might have had in the off-season. This year was critical for him as the FT catcher for the OKC staff to prove that he could platoon at the position and he had a lot of work to to on game fundamentals/management. What is worse he lost most of spring training as he warmed the bench for the VZ WBC team so tack that on to his lost season. Whatever the case, there is no way anyone can be convinced that he merits even a backup catcher role on this team, and you would think that his trade value is nonexistant at the moment, so he is going to have to make this team as the 2010 DH or spend 4 months in OKC next year until he can be traded to someone who likes him as a catcher, that is, if his wrists are ok. Big change of fortunes for the kid. One thing that hasn't changed (given that he is healthy)? He can hit - still a 300/400/500 guy.
